Professional Profile: Nate serves as the Head of Quantitative Investing for Motley Fool Investment Analytics (MFIA). He oversees the research, model design, and risk management frameworks that translate proprietary research into systematic index strategies. Nate is responsible for the development of all MFIA index methodologies, including membership criteria, weighting schemas, and maintenance protocols.
Experience: Prior to the establishment of MFIA in 2025, Nate led indexing efforts at The Motley Fool, LLC (TMF) from 2021 to 2024. During this tenure, he served as a Quantitative Analyst, contributing research and systematic portfolio management to several of the firm’s recommendation universes.
Before joining the organization, Nate spent seven years in quantitative research and trading roles, with a primary focus on international small- and micro-cap equities. During this period, he successfully developed and managed systematic international equity strategies across the market-cap spectrum. Company Description
Founded in 2025, Motley Fool Investment Analytics, LLC (MFIA) is an index provider dedicated to making the world smarter, happier, and (hopefully) richer, through systematic, rules-based investing. While MFIA is a newly established entity, its operational heritage dates back to 2018, which its flagship strategy, the Motley Fool 100 Index – was first launched to translated “Foolish” research into a measurable benchmark.
In 2025, management of the proprietary index suite was strategically transferred to MFIA to provide a specialized focus on quantitative methodology and index integrity. This transition allows MFIA to scale a legacy of investor advocacy that began in 1993 with founders Tom and David Gardner, moving from editorial recommendations to institutional-grade benchmarks.
